At Serey/Jones, the production is defined as the technical steps
taken to bring the project up to the point were it can be published.
For both print and online media, these steps occur after the content
has been created and approved.
Print media production includes the composing of the pages with the
elements of content into the layout. Preparation of the elements include
scanning photos, separating colors, setting type as required by the
design, generating proofs, generating digital print files or imagesetting
film and delivering press ready material to the printer.
Online media production includes coding of the pages with the elements
of content. Preparation of the graphic elements to insure quick download
by the person viewing the finished page. Additionally, online media
production includes coding of the interactive functionality such as
connecting with databases or cgi applications. After the progressive
steps are proofed and approved by the client the website or web application
is published by uploading the files to the server. Or in the case of
an interactive CDROM presentation delivered to the CDROM duplicator.
